"Courses for Horses" - etc.
Lantra is the training body for land based industries. We worked with them during the winter of 2007/2008 adding the needs of the Agricultural horse and Pony into the new QCF Qualifications, which have now replaced the old NVQs. This was a huge achievement as the old heritage system has now been saved. We are working on a format to produce Nil Carbon Footprint Food (down to Carbon Negative), in a SUSTAINABLE way, a combination of the salient parts of the old and new technologies!
We have been working with Verity Biddick's 'BUSINESS FORWARD' programme from LANTRA which is bringing together other groups and people from the agricultural training scene.
There are many issues raised by what we are trying to do, not only agricultural, but social as well. It will we think, eventually link in with the newly announced Government programme of reform to the social benefit system, particularly by actually having work done in each area where unemployment is prevalent!
Some of the people and organisations that helped this project along are:-

Come and learn about the Transition Communities' philosophy to the production of ‘LOW OR NIL CARBON FOOTPRINT’ on the beautiful Roseland Peninsula Coast.
Photos of activities throughout the working year can be viewed on our picture gallery.
Consider the Nil Carbon Footprint Food Production training event on 26/11/2010 at our farm in Portscatho, nr. Truro.
Think you can handle a team at work? Shire horses or ponies.
At this event we aimed to demonstrate the simplicity of producing ‘NIL Carbon Footprint Food’. Funding support for the day was secured by Verity Biddick from Business Forward, a European Social Fund project. For the training, all delegates received non-accredited certificates of attendance upon completion.
