Working Farm
We are continuing to build up a traditional organic working farm from the 1930/1940s period, using part horses and part early machinery to work this unique "Farm of the Elms" which is the meaning of Treloan. This is now a growing visitor attraction which is becoming a many seasons' experience of sowing, harvesting, steam threshing, feeding and caring for the animals etc.
Farming calendar & visitor participation
Visitors are able to partake in the seasonal farming calendar. The calendar which includes ploughing and sowing with Shire horses in Spring, harvesting with them in early Summer, continuing through to threshing the corn in the Autumn. As much as we can, and weather allows us to, we try to coincide the activities with school breaks to enable visitors to enjoy the experience of this working farm.
Shires are back at Treloan Coastal Farm having arrived in August 2000 after more than a quarter of a century's absence.
